Rattlesnake Canyon offers a stunning and unique variety of photography opportunities. It boasts North America’s second most populous location for natural rock arch formations. Only Arches National Park has more. However, you know what else Arches NP has? Lots and lots of visitors. Not the case at this unknown jewel.
To reach this destination requires use of a suitable off road capable vehicle followed by a five mile round trip hike. Hence the lack of people. But it is worth it! You will be rewarded with a dozen natural arches, many unique rock formations, stunning natural landscapes and a wide variety of wildlife (in particular lizards, lots of lizards). The hike is mostly easy; however, the first and last half mile are significantly steep and technical making this destination unsuitable for those with physical difficulties or a fear of steep grades.
