Radical Hill is a formidable jeep trail that will tax the nerves of even experienced off road enthusiasts. But if you have the guts it’s worth every bump and bounce. Not only is the 4 wheeling experience top notch but so too are the amazing views and photographic opportunities.
On the way up there are lush wildflower meadows to be found, with crystal mountain streams forming from the snow melt. Late summer (mid July/August) is you best time for photographing wildflowers. Relaxing in a meadow of blooms makes for a good place to eat a picnic lunch and work on our closeup/macro photography.
Wildlife sightings including mountain goats, marmot, eagles, pica and weasel are fairly common.
With trail altitudes starting around 11,000 feet and reaching 13,000+ near the top you will experience world class views on clear days (and in my opinion, even more beautiful views when the weather turns). Sunset from the top of Radical Hill is a real crowd-pleaser (though you won’t find any crowds here).
