DAY 1:: CASABLANCA
Upon arrival in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco, you will be met and transferred by van to your Casablanca hotel, where you will check in and relax for the afternoon. Depending on time, you would have a tour of the impressive Hassan II mosque. Dinner will be served out in a local restaurant. HOTEL CLUB VAL D’ANFA (4 STAR)
DAY 2:: CASABLANCA / RABAT / CHEFCHAOUEN
After breakfast, you will leave towards Chefchaouen, the famous blue city of Morocco in the Rif Mountains. On route, you will stop at Rabat, the capital city and residence of the King, for lunch and a time to enjoy the beautiful coastal city. You will visit the King’s Palace, the La Tour Hassan, Mausoleum, and more. After lunch you will continue on to Chefchaouen for the night. Dinner will be served in the hotel. DAR MEZIANA (4 STAR)
DAY 3:: CHEFCHAOUEN (B, D)
After breakfast, you will have a tour of this “cool” blue town, tucked away in the mountains. You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Rif Mountains. Perfect for photography, this blue city offers every shade of blue. Dinner will be served in the hotel. DAR MEZIANA (4 STAR)
DAY 4:: CHEFCHAOUEN / VOLUBILIS / MEKNES / FES (B, D)
Before breakfast, you will want to climb up the edge of the mountain for a beautiful shot of this small Berber town. After breakfast, you will set out to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. You will spend the morning exploring the 2000-year-old ruins and getting a picture of life during the Roman Empire. Lunch will be taken in Meknes one of Morocco’s Imperial cities. After lunch, your guide will take you on a tour of Meknes…including the stable of Moulay Ismael, the Bab Mansour, and medina. In the evening you will head off to Fes, the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco. Dinner will be served in the hotel RIAD MYRA (4 STAR RIAD)
DAY 5:: FES (B, D)
At sunrise, you will be ready for some shots of the ancient city from the beautiful overlook. After breakfast you will begin your guided tour of the Medina, one of the world’s largest walled in cities. You will explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco. For lunch you will eat in traditional restaurant in the heart of the Medina. After lunch you will complete the tour and return to your hotel for the evening. Dinner will be served in a local restaurant. RIAD MYRA (4 STAR RIAD)
DAY 6:: FES (B, D)
This will be a free day to explore and capture Fes on film. Whether you visit the potters, King’s palace, or just wander for candid photos, Fes is worth the extra day. RIAD MYRA (5 STAR RIAD)
DAY 7:: FES / ERFOUD / SAHARA (B, D)
After an early breakfast you will begin your ascent across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day will be spent winding your way through the beautiful forests, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin to descend towards the Sahara Desert. Half way, you will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks. In the afternoon, you will make your way down along the Ziz River Valley. Upon arrival in Erfoud, you will jump into the 4x4s and head out to the dunes. Sunrise and sunset at the dunes is well worth the visit. AUBERGE DUNE DOR (3 STAR)
DAY 8:: SAHARA DESERT (B, D)
Don’t miss the sunrise on the dunes. In the morning, you will have an optional 4×4 ride around the dunes and a visit to the Nomadic Berber Villages. Listen to some of their music while you get some people photos. For those looking for adventure and some deep desert shots, you will set off by camel for a 2-hour trek out to the oasis where you will spend the night in Berber tents (Dinner is included). ***this could be optional if you would prefer to return to the hotel to sleep***
DAY 9:: SAHARA / TODRA GORGES / DADES GORGES (B, D)
After breakfast, you will return by camel to the 4x4s and head back to Erfoud. From Erfoud you set out behind the High Atlas Mountains on route to the Dades Gorges. In the afternoon, you will take a walk up in the towering Todra Gorges (600 feet high). The picturesque river valleys make for a beautiful journey towards the southeast of Morocco. You will stay the night in Skoura before you cross the High Atlas Mountains. Dinner will be served at the Kasbah. L’MA LODGE (4 STAR)
DAY 10:: SKURA / OUARZAZATE / AIT BENHADDOU (B, D)
After an early breakfast you set off towards Ouarzazate along the route of 1000 Kasbahs. If you would like, you can visit the ancient Kasbahs in the palmaries. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, you can visit this southern town, probably most famous now for the films that have been produced in the area. You will then head out to the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou where you will be ready for the sunset and sunrise. In typical Moroccan fashion, the true treasures must be searched out and discovered…usually off the beaten path. In actuality, this setting has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco; films including, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and The Gladiator. Dinner will be served at the hotel. KASR IGHANDA (4 STAR)
DAY 11:: MARRAKECH (B, D)
After breakfast, you will head off towards Marrakech over the High Atlas Mountains. Take some time enjoying this beautiful landscape. Once in Marrakech, you will check into your hotel and then head off to the Djemaa el-Fna, the center square of the medina. The famous Djemaa el-Fna, is one of the center attractions of Marrakech. Coming alive at night with the local storytellers, entertainers, and mouth-watering barbeque pits, the square is well worth a visit. A quiet cup of tea on the terrace of an adjacent café provides a spectacular aerial view of the bustling square. Dinner will be served at the hotel. RIAD MOUCHARABIEH (4 STAR)
DAY 12:: MARRAKECH (B, D)
After breakfast, the group will have a guided tour of Marrakech, the southern pearl of Morocco. You will discover the Palace of the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, and many other hidden treasures. After lunch, you will continue with the tour on to the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el-Fna, one of the center attractions of Marrakech. The tour will conclude with an exploration of the souk (market) lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco. Dinner will be served in the hotel. RIAD MOUCHARABIEH (4 STAR)
DAY 13:: MARRAKECH ESSAOUIRA CASABLANCA (B, D)
After breakfast, you will set off to the coastal city of Essaouira, a picturesque fishing town, lying on the southwest coast of Morocco. With an exquisite beach to the south, Essaouira has become one of Morocco’s most popular coastal towns. Many of the countries wood carvers and artists make Essaouira their home. After lunch, you will head up along the coast to Casablanca. Dinner will be served in the hotel. HOTEL CLUB VAL D’ANFA (4 STAR) DAY 14:: CASABLANCA / DEPART (B) After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for departure.

This tour is an exploratory trip: What does this mean? Exploratory trips are those taken by your photography instructor (Gene Tewksbury) to new locations which are being added to our future destinations. Gene will be experiencing this destination for the first time as well.

1) We do not make profit on the tour itself. You are getting the tour at the same wholesale price we pay, with just enough additional money/customer to pay for your instructor’s travel as well. This means you are often getting the tour for the same price as you would had you booked it yourself ONLY NOW, you get full time professional photography instruction throughout the trip.
2) Many customers feel they learn a lot about producing good photography by watching how Gene finds his own quality imagery in new locations.
